Shimano Sephia Squid Iki

Image
Most anglers iki our fish when we catch them to improve the eating quality of the flesh, and you should do the same with your squid. Shimano has released an easy-to-use squid iki. This tool has an ergonomic plastic handle for ease of use. With a quick turn of the red knob, the stainless blade also retracts inside the handle when not in use. This is not only a safety feature, but also reduces the size of the overall tool for ease of storage and carrying when moving around.

Eze-Lap Diamond Sharpeners

Image
The American made Eze-Lap diamond sharpeners, as the name suggests, use a diamond abrasive surface to sharpen knives and a range of other tools. There are two options. One is a conventional round style, designed to keep an edge, the other a flat steel that can be used for creating an edge and keeping it. The latter can be used to sharpen not only knives, but scissors, axes, mower blades, hatchets, hooks, chisels, and shears. There are two grit grades available – fine and superfine. The diamond surfaces are double-bonded, and heat treated to create a long-lasting surface. Distributed in NZ by Conaghans Ltd, Albany and available in tackle stores nationwide.

Designed specifically for fishing large soft-baits such as the 10” Catch Livies in deeper water, the Catch Harrier elevator-style jigheads are designed in New Zealand for local conditions and angling preferences. There are three weights available – 168g (6oz), 112g (4oz) and 56g (2oz). The two lighter options are rigged using 5/0 stainless hooks, the 168g with a 7/0 hook. The rigs are finished with a ‘glow-in-the-dark’ coating that makes them more visible at depth. On both the drop and retrieve, the heads produce a darting action that adds to their fish-attracting capabilities.
