Jesse Crassborn regained his spot as the top contender for the CRC Champion Angler with this impressive 60cm kahawai.
There are only days left (assuming you’re reading this copy of NZ Fishing News before May 31 2022) to enter catches into this season of the Export NZ Fishing Competition.
April, with a few long weekends and some settled weather, provided ample opportunity for anglers to wet a line. With over 1,700 catches submitted and more than 200 fish released, it proved to be the busiest month in the history of the Export NZ Fishing Competition!
Rather surprisingly, the current leaders for each species must have set a blistering pace, as there are no major changes to the leaderboard. The only change – at time of writing – is to the CRC Champion Angler. Previous winner Jesse ‘Undeniable’ Crasborn is now back on top with 277.5cm. His 60cm Kahawai, caught in mid-April, catapulted him back up into bragging rights territory.
Jesse wasn’t the only happy angler this month. Matt King won himself our April prize – a$2,200 Shimano Deep-Drop Combo, which includes a Beastmaster electric reel spooled with 80lb braid and a Status Bluewater bentbutt rod.
