A late run of wahoo has been the highlight of recent fishing days in Niue.
Alate run of wahoo has been the highlight of recent fishing days. It was pleasantly surprising that many of them were goodsized fish. Hopefully these will stay around into the New Year.
Baitfish numbers are climbing again and the summer runs of skipjack tuna are beginning with some decent-sized workups, mainly on the western side of the island, as well as a couple of the offshore FADs.
Some good yellowfin tuna are also starting to show up which is great news. Good powerful sport fish, they are also in great condition and make for some excellent eating, especially as sashimi and sushi.
Now we just need the weather to be kind to us and keep any cyclones at bay so we can enjoy a great summer of fishing.
